‘I Will Continue To Celebrate New Year With The Less Privileged As Long As I Am Alive’ – Hon. Peter Enna
For 16 consecutive years, the family of Chief Patrick Enna have always marked their New Year celebration by wining and dining with the needy and also giving them some gifts to put smiles on their faces. This tradition, according to Hon. Peter Patrick Enna, will continue so long as members of the family are alive.

Hon. Peter Patrick Enna who is the eldest son in the family, made this known while presenting wrappers and some foodstuff to some widows at his residence in Lafia today (January 1, 2026) as part of the New Year’s celebration.
Explaining the rationale behind the gesture, Hon. Peter Enna said: “Even the Bible said we should help our neighbors and those who are in need. And also, in celebration of the New Year, I felt the need to sit and dine with the less privileged. And it’s a passion, not that I’m doing it because of politics.

“A lot of people felt that I’m doing this because of politics, but it’s not. It’s my nature that I love people. And even in politics, it’s my willingness to serve.
“And in every occasion, we refine it by introducing some new things. Like the one of this year, you can see widows around, as usual, which will give them some wrappers, some food items, and some ingredients. And some small money to support them with at this hard time.”

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with Eggonnews could not hide their excitement. Mrs. Joan Envuladu who has benefitted regularly from the gesture, said: “I feel so excited. Coming here and seeing the joy on people’s faces; the widows, the orphans and other less privileged persons, I am so happy with Hon. Peter Enna. For him to be committed to putting smile on our faces every year, I know that God will certainly reward him. Whatever he needs in this life, we pray that God will give it to him.”
For Mrs. Grace Attah from Agidi Development Area, she described the gesture as the “perfect New Year gift” and prayed that God will replenish the pockets of the giver.
Apart from the gesture to the less privileged, the celebration also afforded the Patrick Enna family the opportunity to relax and interact with their extended family, friends, associates and well-wishers.
The celebration at the Peter Patrick Enna residence was preceded by a thanksgiving mass at the St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Ombi 1.
In a homily during the thanksgiving mass, Reverend Fr. Kura Yohanna charged Christians to keep faith with God in the New Year, urging them not to allow the devil use fear to hinder them from achieving great things in 2026.
