President Buhari Makes New Appointments
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved appointments for the heads and members of some parastatals under the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.
According to the press statement that announced the appointments, they were in accordance with the President’s desire to fast-track the targets and mandate of the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.
In the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Adeolu Akande (South West) was appointed to replace Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye (South West) as Chairman, Board of Commissioners.
Still under the NCC, Mr Uche Onwude (South East) replaces Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Ararume (South East) as Non-Executive Commissioner.
The appointments to the NCC are subject to the approval of the Senate.
The President also made appointments into the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). Dr Abubakar Sa’id has been appointed to replace Prof. Adeolu Akande as Board Chairman with Dr Habibu Ahmed Imam (North West) replacing Dr Lawal Bello Moriki (North West) as member of the board. Dr Mohammed Sa’idu Kumo was also appointed as Board Member.
In the appointments made into the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), Dr Ismail Adebayo Adewusi (South West) replaces Barrister Bisi Adegbuyi (South West) as Postmaster General/CEO while
Professor Muhammed Bello Abubakar replaces Architect Yusuf Kazaure in Galaxy Backbone Limited (GBB).
Architect Yusuf Kazaure replaces Chief Dr George Nnadubem Moghalu as Board Chairman of Nigeria Communications Satellite Limited (NigComSat) while Dr Najeem Salam replaces Hon. Samson Osagie as Executive Director, Marketing and Business Development in NigComSat.
Professor Abdu Ja’afaru Bambale replaces Kazeem Kolawole Raji as Executive Director, Technical Services
and Hadi Mohammed is to replace Mohammed Lema Abubakar as Executive Director, Administration of NigComSat.
