Governor Engr. Abdullahi Sule affirmed his vision for sports as a serious business capable of generating “impact and pride” for Nasarawa State, as he officially unveiled the 2025 Nasarawa State Governor’s Cup at the Government House.
Beyond launching the tournament, the Governor provided a significant boost to the State Football Association (FA) by promising to donate a bus to ease their travel and operations. “Given the resources available, I’m pleased to give you a pass,” he announced, following the presentation of the tournament cup and materials by FA Chairman Salisu Usman Galadima.

Galadima used the platform to express deep gratitude for the Governor’s dedication. “Your Excellency, today’s programme is a testament to the power of sports to bring people together and inspire greatness,” he said. He credited the administration with a “remarkable transformation” that has elevated the state’s sporting profile.
Governor Sule reserved special praise for the state’s successful clubs, singling out Nasarawa United Football Club, the Amazons, and Basira Football Club for their strong league and tournament performances. He commended the leadership of the FA and the Sports Ministry for their commitment to promoting football.
The Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Yakubu Kwanta, and ALGON Chairman, Hon. Safiyanu Isa Andaha, echoed the sentiments, applauding the Governor’s projects and pledging to continue working to “exceed expectations.”
