Governor Abdullahi Sule Inspects Lafia City Stadium for Upgrade to World-class level.

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, made a surprise visit to Lafia City Stadium with representatives from a potential contracting firm to discuss plans for a major upgrade.

The proposed renovation aims to modernize the stadium, enhancing its capacity, infrastructure, and amenities to make it a premier sports destination in Nigeria.

Key upgrade plans include expanding seating capacity for a more electric atmosphere, installing state-of-the-art facilities like changing rooms and floodlights, and improving accessibility features.

Governor Sule emphasized investing in sports infrastructure to promote youth development, tourism, and economic growth, citing the state’s proximity to Abuja as an economic advantage.

“The upgrade will provide a world-class facility for our athletes, host international events, create jobs, and boost local economy,” he said.

The Governor assured the project would be completed within six months upon award, working closely with Engr. Emmanuel Eromosele to ensure timely delivery.

Lafia City Stadium currently holds 7,500 spectators, but the upgrade could increase capacity beyond 10,000.

The stadium is home to four major football league clubs: Nasarawa United FC, Nasarawa Amazons FC, Lobi Stars FC, and Basira FC.

Governor Sule was received by Commissioner Jafaru Ango, Permanent Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan, and other officials from the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport, and Nasarawa State Football Association.
