Former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu, popularly known as Daktan Talakawa, has donated a block of three classrooms and an office worth over 55 million naira to the RCM Primary School, Barkin Abdullahi (B.A.D.).

At the same event, he officially declared his intention to contest for the governorship of Nasarawa State in 2027.
The newly constructed classroom block, complete with an office, electricity, and solar power, was commissioned by the Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Mohammed Sani.

Eggonnews learned reliably from sources in B.A.D. that Hon. Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu, an alumnus of RCM Primary School B.A.D. (1973–1979), initiated the construction of the facility during his tenure as a Member of the House of Representatives for Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency (2011–2015). Though it began during his time in office, the project was only recently completed and formally handed over for commissioning and to put to use.
Speaking during the presentation, Dr. Kigbu said the initiative was both a gesture of gratitude as a former pupil of the school and a demonstration of his commitment to improving educational infrastructure.
“As someone who benefited from this school, I feel obligated to give back. This is part of my long-standing vision to invest in education and create a conducive learning environment for our children,” he said.
Dr. Kigbu also used the occasion to receive blessings from the royal fathers and traditional rulers of Koron Kuje Chiefdom to enable him make decision to run for governorship of Nasarawa State in the 2027 elections. He stated this publicly after receiving their blessings during the event.
In an exclusive interview with Eggonnews at his residence in Bukan Sidi, Lafia, Dr. Kigbu reaffirmed his resolve, noting that his declaration followed overwhelming support from traditional rulers and the local community whom he once represented.
Addressing the Nasarawa State APC Chairman, Dr. Aliyu Bello, Dr. Kigbu lamented that he has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2021, donated five vehicles to the party and defected with over ten thousand deflectors alongside with him but has not benefited anything from the party after his defection.
He further explained that after his defection, the party kept promising him that they will make him minister, give him this or that, but never did so.
He, however, added that until recently, President Ahmed Tinubu appointed him Federal Commissioner for National Population Commission.
Dr. Kigbu who has just been appointed a Federal Commissioner for National Population Commission NPC by President Ahmed Tinubu since his defection to APC in Nasarawa State since 2021 said, “I am grateful to President Tinubu, and I will serve the country with fear of God,” Dr. Kigbu stated.
He, however, appreciated Dr. Aliyu Bello for coming to B.A.D. to attend his occasion, which is against the long-time rumours making the rounds that the APC leader does not like him.
He, however, told Dr. Bello point blank that coming to B.A.D. to attend his occasion has proved to the party and the public that he likes him and dispelled the rumours he was hearing that the party Chairman, Dr. Aliyu Bello, doesn’t like him, he stated.
Dr. Kigbu further stated he wants to assure the Chairman of APC and everybody that was in B.A.D. that he will contest for the governorship of Nasarawa State come 2027.
He said, “And I will win the ticket, and once I win the ticket, I will win the governorship election in the state. Let me assure you again that if APC doesn’t give me ticket in 2027, the party will suffer a consequence. The party should not suppress me because no one can suppress me. And if I win the Governor of Nasarawa State, I will develop Nasarawa State. I will construct a dual carriageway from Kilima in Lafia to B.A.D. I will make B.A.D. a modern city,” he stated.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by His Excellency, Engr. A.A. Sule, the Governor of Nasarawa State, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Nasarawa State Ministry of Education, Mohamed Sani; Nasarawa State APC Chairman, Dr. Aliyu Bello; Hon. Solomon Akwashiki; Hon. Jacob Kudu, members, Nasarawa State House of Assembly; Hon. Barr. Mohammed Alkali, former member, Nasarawa State House of Assembly and Commissioner for Education Hon. John Mamman.
Others are the Zhi Migili, Dr. Ayuba Agwadu; the Aren Koron Kuje, Chief Joseph Sunday Nomo; Aren Eggon Erroh, Alhaji Usman Hudu Makeri; and traditional rulers from Koron Kuje Chiefdom.
The occasion was also attended by Dr. Moses Arigu from Canada; Brig. General Philip Ashim (rtd); Navy Commodore Hassan Dogara (rtd); Navy Captain Mark Abashi; and many dignitaries from all walks of life and party supporters also graced the commissioning ceremony in B.A.D.
