Date Confirmed: Nasarawa Amazons to Face Rivers Angels in Cup Final
Two-time champions Nasarawa Amazons are set to face familiar foes Rivers Angels in the 2025 President Federation Cup final, scheduled for Saturday, 28th June at the historic Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos.
The Amazons last lifted the trophy in 2019, defeating Rivers Angels in Kaduna—a victory that remains significant, especially with current Amazons captain Josephine Mathias having been on the Rivers Angels side that year.
Path to the Final
Nasarawa Amazons have been in brilliant form throughout the tournament:
- Round of 32: Hammered Kwara Ladies 6–0 in Anyigba
- Round of 16: Edged Bayelsa Queens 2–1 in Awka
- Quarterfinal: Returned to Awka to dismantle Sunshine Queens 4–0
- Semifinal: Rebounded from a heartbreaking NWFL Super 6 title loss in Ikenne to defeat Edo Queens 2–0
This run reflects the team’s hunger to cap off the season with silverware after narrowly missing out on the league title.
Historic Venue Awaits
The final will be held at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, a compact but iconic stadium by the Lagos waterfront. Formerly known as King George V Stadium, Lagos City Stadium, and Onikan Stadium, it has hosted some of Nigerian football’s most historic moments. This will be the 61st grand finale to be hosted in Lagos State, which has been the heart of the Federation Cup since its inception.
