The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) is set to host its highly anticipated Media Development Conference from November 24th to 27th, 2025, in Abuja. The conference is an annual event that has been held since 2023.

This year’s conference marks the third edition of the conference with the theme “Reimagining Democracy, Development, and Data for the Next Decade.” The conference aims at fostering dialogue on the evolving landscape of media, governance, and technology in Nigeria and beyond.
According to the CJID official webpage, the four-day conference will feature exciting panel discussions, technical workshops, and keynote addresses by leading experts. A highlight will be the spotlight on Nigeria’s first-ever Openness Index, launched by CJID in July 2025, which assesses government transparency and citizen engagement. In addition, attendees will explore research exhibits, attend the National Health Summit, and participate in the AI Innovation Summit and showcase, emphasizing the role of emerging technologies in shaping the future.
Furthermore, the CJID’s Excellence in Journalism Awards will also be presented during the event, recognizing outstanding contributions to media integrity and innovation. The conference will serve as a crucial platform for media practitioners, development experts, government officials, and private sector stakeholders from Nigeria and abroad to exchange ideas and forge partnerships.
According to CJID’s official webpage, the conference aims to catalyse innovative solutions and foster collaborative efforts to address pressing societal challenges through responsible journalism, data-driven decision-making, and inclusive development.
Participation options include both on-site and virtual attendance. Interested individuals are encouraged to monitor CJID’s social media handles for updates and registration links. The event promises to be a significant milestone in advancing media development and democratic governance in Nigeria.
