Christmas: Nasarawa Speaker Spends N30m On Constituents, Distributes Cash, Rice, Receives Defectors Into APC
The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr. Danladi Jatau, has distributed over 1,000 bags of rice and cash to more than 600 people of Kokona Local Government Area to enable them celebrate Christmas with joy.
The Speaker made the distribution on Tuesday (December 23, 2025) at his residence in Garaku to beneficiaries from the 11 electoral wards of Kokona LGA.

He explained that the distribution was part of his continued commitment to bring smiles to the faces of his constituents and the entire Kokona Local Government during and after the Christmas celebration.
“I have distributed 1,000 bags of rice and N20,000 each to so many people as you can see them, and in all, I spent about N30 million. You are all aware that I have been doing this every year and this year cannot be an exception,” Dr. Jatau stated.

He added, “This distribution is to enable them celebrate Christmas with joy and to improve the standard of living of the people of Kokona Local Government Area. By God’s grace, I will continue to initiate policies and programmes that will change their lives positively.”
Speaker Jatau expressed appreciation to the people of his constituency and Kokona LG for their continued prayers for him and Hon. Daniel Oga Ogazi, member representing Kokona East Constituency at the state legislature.
“Hon. Daniel Ogazi and I are working together, we have a good working relationship and we don’t have any problem or issues between ourselves. I want to urge those carrying gossip and rumors to desist; instead they should preach peace and unity among us, because we are one, as power comes from God,” he said.
APC Congresses Scheduled For February 2026
Dr. Jatau disclosed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would hold its congresses in the state by February 2026 through consensus.
“There will be no election into party offices but people will emerge through consensus into various offices from wards, Local Government and state levels. If you spent eight years in a particular position, you are not eligible for the same position again, but you can be elected into a different position of the party,” he explained.
The Speaker noted that the rotation of political positions in Kokona LGA has helped in promoting unity, peace, progress and development of the area.
He attributed his political success to God and the people, while expressing gratitude to those calling on him to contest for the Keffi/Karu/Kokona Federal constituency seat in 2027.
“By next year, 2026, I will make my position known on the House of Representatives seat of Keffi/Karu/Kokona,” Dr. Jatau stated.
He called for unity and peace among members of the local government for the overall development of the area and urged residents to join APC through the party’s e-registration platform.
“APC will win by a landslide in 2027 and Governor Sule will hand over to another APC Governor,” he declared.
The Speaker called on the people of his constituency and the state at large to continue praying for and supporting Governor Abdullahi Sule to succeed.

“His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi Sule is doing well. He is performing well; let’s all continue to pray and support him to succeed. And by God’s grace, he will hand over to an APC Governor in 2027 because of his performance,” he said.
106 Defectors Join APC
In a related development, Dr. Jatau received 106 defectors from the Social Democratic Party (SDP), People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and other political parties into the APC.
He assured them of equal rights and privileges in the party.
On his part, Mr. Terry Bados, the APC Chairman of Kokona LGA, expressed appreciation to Dr. Jatau for the gesture and prayed for God’s abundant blessings upon him.
He urged the people of the area to await Governor Sule’s directive on whom to support ahead of the 2027 elections.
Mr. Bados encouraged all prospective members to register with APC through the e-registration platform to enable them vote and be voted for during elections.
The gesture cut across all 11 electoral wards of Kokona LG, including different groups, religious bodies and widows, among others.
