Senator representing Nasarawa North at the National Assembly, Senator Godiya Akwashiki has assured his supporters that their votes will count in the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking during the 2023 Ezzen Day celebration which held at Alhamis Ezzen on Sunday (February 12, 2023), the senator said gone are the days where it was easy to scuttle the will of the people by rigging saying the innovations made to the electoral process ensures that the results reflect the desire of the masses.
Senator Godiya Akwashiki however cautioned the people against selling their votes to moneybag politicians and encouraged them to rather vote their conscience.
He said: “Even President Muhammadu Buhari has urged Nigerians to vote for their conscience. He has said he doesn’t want vote buying. He has warned Nigerians that if you sell your vote for N10,000 the hardship you will face for the next four years will be more than that N10,000. That is why he has made it such that this time around, the votes of the common man will count.”
He also urged the people not to be intimidated by thugs but to be vigilant and report any suspicious person or activity to the appropriate authorities.
