Vandals Caused Power Outage In Many Parts Of The Country – FG
The Federal Government has said activities of vandals on Nigeria’s power infrastructure is the cause of the latest power outage witnessed in many parts of the country.
In a statement released by the Federal Ministry of Power and signed by the media aide to the minister, the transmission tower on the Odukpani-Ikot Ekpene 330kV double circuit transmission line was attacked by vandals resulting in the loss of about 400MW of generation. This, according to the statement, is responsible for the national blackout witnessed since Friday April 8, 2022.
The statement however assured that authorities are working to restore the system.
“We wish to notify the public that power on the grid is being restowed sequentially by the System Operator as other on-grid power plants are being dispatched to cover the lost generation capacity from the Calabar power plant owned by the Niger Power Holding Company Ltd.”
