Top Nigerian Clubs Gear Up for Unity Preseason Tournament in Abuja
The highly anticipated Unity Preseason Tournament is set to take place in Abuja from August 11-18, featuring top teams from the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL). This year’s edition promises to be an exciting one, with Kano Pillars, Niger Tornadoes, and Nasarawa United among the leading teams competing for the top prize.
According to Kola Daniel, the tournament’s Mobilization Coordinator, all participating teams have confirmed their readiness to take part. This is a testament to the tournament’s growing reputation as a premier event in the Northern Conference. Notable teams like Katsina United, Mighty Jets, and defending champions EFCC (despite their relegation to the third tier) will also participate, making it a highly competitive event.
This year’s tournament offers a unique opportunity for smaller teams to shine. Selected teams from the Nigerian National League (NNL) and Nigerian Nationwide League One (NLO) will participate, exposing their players to top-level competition and boosting football development in the region.
With ten teams set to participate, including six from the NPFL, two from the NNL, and two from the NLO, this year’s Unity Preseason Tournament promises to deliver exciting football, new talent, and a celebration of the beautiful game. Organizers are finalizing preparations, and partners will be unveiled soon.
