Tension In Plateau Subsides, As Lalong Order Arrest Of Self Acclaim Sarki
The Governor of Plateau State, Mr. Simon Lalong has ordered for the arrest of one Alhaji Samaila Abdullahi, a self-acclaimed Sarki Kerena in Bukuru, Jos South Local Government Area.
According to a report published by an online medium, Kakaaki Reporters, the arrest order of the self-acclaimed monarch is said to have calmed down tension in Jos and environs.
The report further referred to a statement issued in Jos, by Plateau State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr. Dan Manjang, who said all those involved in the purported institution should be arrested immediately.
“Security agencies are currently tracking those behind this mischief and will bring them to book immediately they are apprehended.”
According to findings, the said Alhaji Samaila Abdullahi, is a self-acclaimed community leader from non-existent Bukuru emirate.
Lalong said that the Jos South Local Government Management, traditional and community leaders as well as security agencies have already met and directed those behind this alleged turbaning to desist forthwith or face the wrath of the law.
The Statement stressed further that “Government will not fold its arms to allow such mischief makers tamper with the peace of Jos South Local Government and the entire State.
“The people of Bukuru, Jos South Local Government and the entire State are advised to go about their normal businesses and be vigilant to report any suspicious activity to the law enforcement agencies.”
Meanwhile, the legislator representing Plateau North at the National Assembly, Senator Istifanus Gyang, has said, the said individual has been arrested by the police as a means of fostering peace in the area.
A press statement issued by the Special Assistant, Media & Protocol to the senator, Musa Ibrahim Ashoms, said the self-acclaimed community leader has been apprehended by the police.
“Senator Gyang also met and conferred with the Plateau State Commissioner of Police who confirmed that the said imposter has been accosted by the Police,” the statement read.
The Senator called on the people of Plateau North to distance themselves from persons whose conduct and action is capable of constituting a threat to peace and harmonious communal coexistence.
The federal lawmaker described the purported Installation of the Saiki Kerana in Bukuru, as the handiwork of mischief makers and crisis merchants.
The self-acclaimed Sarki Kerana was earlier schedule to be installed today, 1st August 2020.
