Stakeholders Shower Praises On Solomon Akwashiki As Lawmaker Distributes Cars, Cash To Mark First Anniversary

Honourable Solomon Akwashiki has been described as the best lawmaker to ever represent Lafia Central at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA).
This was the common theme of the speeches by various stakeholders at a special ceremony to mark the first anniversary of the lawmaker at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.
The ceremony which held at the playground of Government Secondary School Akurba on Saturday June 8, 2024, was graced by several key personalities in Nasarawa State including the Governor of Nasarawa State who was represented by his deputy, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, the wife of the Governor of Nasarawa State, Hajiya Silifat Abdullahi Sule and the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau.
Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, Hon. Abubakar Sarki Dahiru and the Nasarawa State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Aliyu Bello were also present.
In his remarks, Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe who was speaking on behalf of the Governor, commended Hon. Akwashiki for initiating different projects and programmes that have direct bearing on the lives of his constituents within one year in office.
Dr. Emmanuel Akabe said the lawmaker has done well in his one year in office and urged other elected representatives to emulate him.
He appreciated Akwashiki for keying into his project of developing the State.
“Nasarawa State is our project, it is a project of everybody as we must come together to develop Nasarawa State,” the Deputy Governor, added.
The Governor also lauded the Speaker and members of the 7th Assembly for operating ‘zero party level’ as according to him the members of the State legislature had been working with the common goal of seeing the State succeed irrespective of party affiliation.
Also Speaking, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, the Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly said that Hon. Akwashiki is making him proud in the House.
“Today is a great day in the history of the Assembly as Hon Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki is giving out dividends of democracy to his people. Hon Akwashiki is doing well and I am proud of his quality representation” he said.
He urged him not to relent in his efforts in providing the much needed dividends of democracy to his constituents.
The Speaker also solicited for the prayers and support of all and sundry to enable the House under his leadership and Governor Abdullahi Sule to succeed.
“By the Grace of God, the 7th Assembly members will not fail the people of the State
“Members of the 7th Assembly have the capacity to deliver and are giving back to their people what their people are expecting from them.
“What we want is the prayers and support of the people of the State to succeed,” he said
Also Speaking, Sen. Aliyu Ahmed Wadada (SDP- Nasarawa West) SDP Reps Abubakar Sarki Dahiru, Hon Aliyu Bello, the State APC Chairman, Hajiya Silifat Abdullahi Sule, the State First Lady, Hon Danlami Musa, SDP Chairman, Nasarawa State appreciated Hon. Akwashiki for initiating good policies and programmes that have direct bearing on the lives of the people of his constituecy.
They said that the lawmaker has performed credibly well in his one year in office.
They urged Hon. Akwashiki not to relent in his efforts in improving on the standard of living of his constituents.
On their parts, Prince Ibrahim Abdullahi Hassan (Adon Garin Lafia) and Alhaji. Abubakar Musa, the District Head of Akurba, who represented the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage (Rtd) among others commended Hon. Akwashiki for providing the much needed dividends of democracy to his people.
He said that Hon. Akwashiki was the best member Lafia Central constituency has ever produced.
They assured him of their maximum support to succeed.
In his speech at the event, Member representing Lafia Central constituency, Hon. Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki and the Minority Whip of the House said that he decided to provide infrastructure and other gesture to the people of his constituency in order to improve on their standard of living.
Hon. Akwashiki who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts said that he has sunk a total of 40 boreholes and provided electrical cables in different communities of his constituency to change on their lives positively.
“Some of my achievements within one year in office include construction and renovation of 40 boreholes across the seven wards in Lafia Central constituency, Construction of bridges at Ashakpa, Agyaragu and Angwan Zugu respectively, Grading of seven Kilometers road linking Lafia to Akassa among others.
“Others include fixing of vandalized transformers at Dr Abdullahi Adamu Estate, Angwan Nungu and Rice mill among others.
“Provision of solar lighting system at Timber shed in Lafia. Provision of building materials to churches and mosques.
“Donation of bags of rice and cows to the constituents during yuletides and other festivities” he said
The lawmaker also disclosed that he has trained over 400 youths and women in ICT to enable them acquired computer knowledge.
“Training of over 400 youths and women in ICT, registration of over 400 applicants for the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exams, provision of motorcycles to carefully selected youths
“Provision of 12 vehicles to youth Support Groups for transport businesses and others as well as critical stakeholders such as the Jama’atul Nasril Islam (JNI) and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Lafia LGA.
“Engagement of 40 youths on monthly salaries to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy and economic hardship” he added.
The lawmaker said he has donated N10,000 each to over 500 women to ease their petty businesses.
“I have also secured permanent and pensionable employment to over 40 youths of my constituency” he revealed.
He said he has sponsored motions and contributed effectively in law making in the state legislative body.
Akwashiki also said he has received many awards over his quality representation at the state legislation.
Hon. Akwashiki pledged continued sound and quality representation at the state legislature.
He called on the people of his constituency to continue to support him and the government of the day at all levels to enable them succeed.
The lawmaker urged them to live in unity, peace and tolerate one another irrespective of their affiliations.High point of the event was the distribution of 12 cars to youth support groups and some stakeholders in his constituency as well as N10,000 cash to 500 women from his constituency.
