President Buhari Reacts To CAN Chairman Killing, Restates Resolve To Defeat Boko Haram
President Muhammadu Buhari has restated his administration’s resolve to defeat Boko Haram and other terrorist groups in the country.
He made this known while reacting to the killing of Reverend Lawan Andimi, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Michika LGA of Adamawa State by Boko Haram.
In a statement made through his social media handles, President Buhari described it as “cruel, inhuman and deliberately provocative” while extending his “deepest condolences to his family, the Christian community across Nigeria and the Govt & people of Adamawa”.
President Buhari also expressed sadness that even though the terrorists had ‘given signals of a willingness’ to set Reverend Andimi free, they still went ahead to kill him.
The President concluded his statement by expressing his administration’s resolve to “comprehensively defeat all terrorist groups sowing death, violence and destruction in our country and across West Africa”.
Pastor Lawan Andimi of the EYN church in Adamawa State had been kidnapped early this year when Boko Haram terrorists attacked his community.
He had appeared in a video some days later telling his family he was alive and well while also calling on the government to do everything possible to ensure his release.
