Police Announce Traffic Diversion In Lafia for President Tinubu’s Visit

Partial Movement Restrictions in Place from June 24–25; Motorists Urged to Use Alternative Routes 

The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Police has announced traffic diversions and partial movement restrictions in Lafia ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s scheduled visit to the State. 

According to a police press release issued on Tuesday,  and signed by the PRO SP Ramhan Nansel, the measures will be in effect from 6:00 PM on June 24 to 6:00 PM on June 25, 2025, to ensure security and smooth movement during the presidential visit. 

Alternative Routes for Motorists

Vehicles from Akwanga axis: Diverted at Mechanic Village, Azuba, to pass through the bypass, Akurba, Mararaba Akunza, and then connect to Makurdi Road. 

Vehicles from Makurdi: Diverted at Bukan Kwato–Mararaba Akunza to link Akurba and Azuba. 

According to the press release, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, assured residents that adequate security personnel have been deployed to protect commuters along alternative routes. He appealed for public understanding, stating that the measures were necessary for a safe and successful presidential visit. 

The police also apologized for any inconvenience caused and thanked residents and motorists for their cooperation. 

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and follow traffic directives from security operatives.
