NWFL Hails Governor Sule On Suleiman Amazon Appointment

The board of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) headed by Aisha Falode, has expressed its gratitude to the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, on the deserving appointment of Hajiya Husseina Suleiman as the Chairman of NWFL Premiership multiple champions, Nasarawa Amazons Football Club.

The NWFL board equally congratulated the amiable women football administrator par excellence, Suleiman, for earning the confidence and trust of the Nasarawa state governor to take charge of one of the most prosperous club sides in the land.

Prior to her October 29, 2020’s appointment as chairman of the multiple Nigerian women’s football champions, the NWFL board member had acted as the General Manager of the Amazons after the death of the club’s former chairman, His Royal Highness, Audu Nuhu.

Hajiya Suleiman, led the team to win the 2018 Aiteo Cup title within the short period.

The Chairperson of the NWFL board, Aisha Falode, described Hajiya Suleiman as a round peg in a round hole insisting that Suleiman’s appointment would by all means take Nasarawa Amazons to the highest level in the Nigeria women’s football league.

Falode added: “We thank His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi Sule for finding Hajiya Husseina Suleiman worthy of the responsible position of the chairman of Nasarawa Amazons.

“We congratulate Hajiya Suleiman too for earning the confidence and trust of the government of Nasarawa state to steer the ship of the club at this auspicious time.

“His Excellency could not have chosen a better qualified person for the onerous task than Hajiya Suleiman.

“She is one of the biggest voices and finest advocates of the women’s game in Nigeria, Africa and indeed at the world stage, whose shortest tenure as interim chairman saw her side won the 2018 Aiteo Cup title at the expense of perennial winners, Rivers Angels.

“She has grown the side to become a hub of a sort for the national teams as well as for the coaches too.

“We believe the latest assignment will afford her the rare opportunity to further grow the side to be a dominant force in the land.

“We expect that the State Government will avail her with all the necessary support to excel in the daunting task of taking the team to the highest level.

“We pray for God’s guidance, wisdom and strength to pilot the affairs of the club and we hope that her tenure will add value to the growth and development of the women’s game,” Aisha Falode said.

Hajiya Suleiman’s immediate assignment will be to put the side in an excellent shape that would see them excel in the forthcoming 2020/2021 NWFL Premiership season and perhaps earn the right to represent the country at the maiden 2021 CAF Women’s Champions League.
