‘NSUK Runs The Best Postgraduate Studies In Nigeria’ – NSUK VC

Nasarawa State University Keffi, NSUK runs one of the best postgraduate studies amongst the Nigerian Universities in the country.
The Vice Chancellor, Nasarawa State University Keffi, NSUK, Prof. Suleiman Bala Muhammed, made this assertion when he declared open a 2-day workshop organised by the Faculty of Social Sciences of NSUK for the postgraduate students of the University recently.
Speaking to the students, the Vice Chancellor charged them to take the workshop seriously as it intended to help them in their thesis and research work.
According to the Vice Chancellor, the postgraduate study programme of the University has been rated high by notable authorities in the system.
In his words, the VC said “In one of my private discussions with the former Executive Secretary of NUC, Prof. Abdurasheed Abubakar recently, he told me that Nasarawa State University Keffi is running one of the best postgraduate studies in the country and he remarks that, in no distance time, the University would be known as a postgraduate University.”
He therefore urged the postgraduate students to count themselves lucky that they were able to gain admission to study in NSUK.
Prof. Abdurasheed Abubakar was the immediate past Executive Secretary, NUC and also the former Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano, Nigeria.
The VC, in addition, commended the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences for organizing the workshop, saying that the workshop is timely and advised the postgraduate students of the University to utilize the opportunity and advantage of the workshop to improve themselves on how best to conduct their upcoming research work as they have the facilitators before them to ask all questions partaining research for clarifications. That is the importance of the workshop, the VC added.
The VC went further to assure that under his watch, he would not allow any student to be intimidated nor harassed in the cause of his or her study in the University and urged the students to cooperate fully with their lecturers and the school management so that they can enjoy their studies.
The 2-day workshop from 12th – 13th September, 2023 took place at the School of Postgraduate Studies Auditorium NSUK.
The facilitators at the workshop were University dons drawn from different Universities to present papers on research work.
There were two papers each day. The first paper in Day 1 after the opening ceremony was on Research Ethics, and was presented by Prof. Pam D. Sha from the National Institute of Policy and Strategies Study (NIPSS), Kuru, near Jos.
The second paper of the day was on Research Proposal which was presented by Prof. Ike Onyishi of the University of Nigeria, Nsuka (UNN).
On Day 2, the first paper was on Research Methodology, and was presented by Prof. E. Gyong, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU) while the second paper in Day 2 was on Data Analysis by Prof. I. G. Umar, Kaduna State University Kaduna (KASU)
Participants were mainly postgraduate students drawn from different faculties of the University and they were presented certificates at the end of the workshop.
The workshop was also attended by principal officers of the University and Lecturers from the Faculty of Social Sciences and amongst them was the HOD, Mass Communication Nasarawa State University Keffi Prof. Muhammad S. Rabiu and PhD Students from the Department of Mass communication Nasarawa State University Keffi.
