NSHA Passes N114.3 billion 2022 Budget, Proceeds On Recess
The Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA) has passed the 2022 appropriation bill presented to the House for consideration and approval by Governor Abdullahi Sule.
Recall that the Governor had on Thursday December 9 2021, presented a budget proposal of N109.8 billion to the House.
However, after considering the budget proposed by the Governor, members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly jerked it up to N114.3 billion, indicating a N4.5 billion increase.
Announcing the passage of the budget in Lafia on Wednesday (December 22, 2021), Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, explained that the increase of the 2022 appropriation bill was as a result of upward review of some sectorial allocations due to their importance and for the overall development of the State.
He thanked members of the House for their commitment and hard work in ensuring the speedy passage of the budget.
He said, “A Bill for a law to authorize the issue out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the State (Appropriation Bill) of the sum of N114, 287, 447, 524.06 only for the services of Nasarawa State Government for the period of 12 months, commencing from 1st January 2022 ending 31st December 2022, is read for the third time and passed.
“N73, 868, 482, 458.05 only is for recurrent expenditure while N40,418, 965, 066.01 only is for capital expenditure.”
He recommended that consultants on revenue engaged by Ministries Departments and Agencies who do not add value to the State’s Internally Generated Revenue should be laid off.
“There should be better understanding between all MDAs on the mode and better way of achieving Government policies and programmes,” he said
The Speaker directed the Clerk of the House, Mr. Ego Maikeffi to produce a clean copy of the bill for Governor Abdullahi Sule’s assent.
He then announced that the House would proceed on its Christmas recess to resume on Thursday 10th February 2022.
