No Plan To Sack LG Chairmen – Gov Sule

Governor of Nasarawa State, Engineer Abdullahi Sule has denied reports that his administration was planning to dissolve all the Local Government Council Chairmen in the State.

The Governor disclosed this when he played host to the thirteen Local Government Chairmen in Nasarawa State when they paid him a visit at the Government House in Lafia on Monday.

Governor Sule explained that he also got to know about it on the social media just like every other person and was shocked because as a law abiding citizen, he would not put himself in a situation where he would be breaching the law.

The Governor who only returned to the State on Sunday after attending the 74th United Nations General Assembly in New York as part of the delegation accompanying President Muhammadu Buhari to the event.

“In the process of my trip, I saw a report that this administration was going to dissolve the local and institute new chairmen.

“The way you saw it was the way I saw it. I never heard of it, I never even thought of anything like that. It has never crossed my mind. Nobody ever advised us on anything in that line. And I never dreamt of it and if the deputy governor dreamt of it, he never told me,” the governor told the chairmen.

Engineer Sule continued: “you are working with us as a team in order for us to work towards developing this state and taking this state to the next level. If the law said you are taking ten years, A. A Sule will allow you to spend your ten years.”

Engineer A A Sule then urged the council chairmen to ignore the report in question and assured them of his administration’s resolve not to short-change the mandate giving to them by the people.

The Governor used the opportunity to appeal to members and supporters of opposing political parties to avoid acts capable of breaching the existing peace in the state.

Engineer Sule also called on the citizens of the state to learn to accept outcomes of judgements from ongoing cases at the various election petition tribunal without recourse to acts that are inimical to peace.

Speaking on behalf of the council chairmen, the state ALGON Chairman who is also the Lafia Local Government Chairman, Muazu Maifata, said they were at the Government House to welcome the governor back from his trip, as well as congratulate him over his recent victories at the tribunal.
