No Explosion At South African High Commission – Nigeria Police

By Eric Kuju

The Nigeria Police has described as ‘fake’, the news making the rounds that there has been an explosion at the South African High Commission I’m Nigeria.

This statement was made in a tweet via their official Twitter handle @PoliceNG where it also advised the public to disregard that information.

The statement reads: “The above video is another classical example of a disingenuous piece of Fake News. There was no explosion in the South African High Commission or any other part of Nigeria today. The public are therefore advised to disregard the information in its entirety.”

The Nigeria Police also assured the public that it has put in place adequate security measures around all South African missions and businesses in the country.

There has been rising tension in the country since videos of alleged xenophobic acts on Nigerians in South Africa went viral on social media last week. This led to some individuals taking the law into their hands and destroying and looting some businesses owned by South Africans in Nigeria.
