The Chairman of the Nasarawa State FA, Alhaji Salisu Usman Galadima, has declared that newly promoted FC Basira will participate in the next Super8 competition. He made this known while responding to questions from journalists at the press center of the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium, shortly after Nasarawa United defeated Sokoto United to solidify their grip on one of the available NPFL tickets.
Alhaji Galadima expressed his excitement about the emergence of new clubs, stating that “it is exciting to see that young clubs are springing out almost every day and they need our support.” He emphasized the importance of partnering with private individuals to provide opportunities for indigenous players, saying “as the custodian of football in Nasarawa State, our resolve is to continue to partner with private individuals who end up giving unlimited opportunities to our indigenous players.”
The Chairman reiterated the FA’s mandate to promote all teams in Nasarawa State, stating “we will not stop pushing and encouraging all teams in Nasarawa State to continue to excel in their respective levels.” He set specific goals, including taking Nasarawa United back to the NPFL, making Nasarawa Amazons the most exciting women’s team in Africa, and ensuring FC Basira’s participation in the next NNL Super8.
When quizzed on how possible it is for FC Basira to participate in the Super8, Alhaji Galadima admitted that “it will not be an easy task,” but expressed confidence in the team’s ability to rise to the occasion. He praised the team’s chairman for his efforts in taking the team from the NLO to the second tier of Nigerian football, saying “FC Basira had played in the NLO for 7 seasons and now they are in the second tier of Nigeria football. The chairman of the team is my friend and I can tell you for truth that he has done an immense job to take the team to their current height.”
Alhaji Galadima concluded by thanking the Nasarawa State government, led by His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi Sule, for providing a supportive environment for youth talents to thrive in sports. He acknowledged the government’s role in enabling the FA to achieve its goals, saying “the mandate is to take Nasarawa United back to the NPFL, Nasarawa Amazons to become the most exciting women’s team in Africa, and trust me when I say FC Basira will make it to the next NNL Super8.”
