Nigeria Army Arrests Two Notorious Bandits In Katsina, Rescues Victims

The men of the Nigeria Army carrying out ‘Operation Sahel Sanity’ have arrested two notorious bandits in Katsina State while rescuing four of their victims.

Army Acting Director Defence Media Operation, Brigadier Benard Onyeuko, disclosed this while briefing journalists on the activities of the Operation Sahel Sanity at Super Camp 4, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State yesterday, said they were able to make the arrest acting on a tip-off.

He also disclosed that the Army had earlier rescued two of the victims who were able to escape from their abductors at Sabo Layi community of Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina state.

Tukur Haliru, a suspected bandit arrested by Operation Sahel Sanity in Katsina


He said, “on 20 August 2020, troops of Operation SAHEL SANITY deployed at Sabon Layi rescued one adult male and one female earlier kidnapped by suspected bandits.

“The victims were kidnapped alongside four other persons at Daudawa village of Faskari LGA of Katsina State. However, the victims managed to escape from their abductors as a result of troops’ intense operational activities in the area.”

He added that the rescued persons were handed over to officials of Faskari LGA who will reunite them with their families while efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining 4 victims. 

He reitarated further, “troops acting on a tip off arrested a suspected bandit named Masaudu Abubakar. 

“The suspect was identified to be a member of a syndicate terrorizing the area.

“In the same vein, troops on fighting patrol apprehended a suspected bandit named Tukur Haliru.

“Suspect was arrested while trying to sneak into Yargamji village on a spy mission from Danjiko Forest.”
