Nasarawa United Duo Lead Charge as Eagles B Prepare for Ghana Clash
Nasarawa United duo, Victor Collins and Anas Yusuf, have been handed invitations to join the Super Eagles B camp ahead of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers against Ghana. The pair have been outstanding for their club despite struggling in the league.
Victor Collins, a defender, recently earned his first Super Eagles call-up, featuring as an unused substitute in the team’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda. His experience with the national team is expected to boost the team’s chances against Ghana.
Anas Yusuf, on the other hand, has been in scintillating form for Nasarawa United, topping the goal-scoring charts in the Nigeria Premier Football League with 10 goals. His goal-scoring prowess will be crucial in the team’s quest to overcome Ghana and qualify for the CHAN tournament.
The 35-man list, which includes Collins and Yusuf, will be pruned down to 25 players. The duo will face stiff competition for a spot in the final squad, but their performances for Nasarawa United make a strong case for their inclusion.
Ghana has been a perennial thorn in Nigeria’s flesh, denying the country qualification for the CHAN tournament in 2009 and 2023. However, with the likes of Collins and Yusuf in the team, Nigeria will be hoping to turn the tables and secure qualification for the tournament.
The first leg of the qualification fixture is scheduled to take place on December 22 at the Accra Sports Stadium, while the second leg will be played on December 28 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
