Nasarawa State To Screen Local Government Ghost Workers
A screening exercise is set to be conducted for workers in the employ of the 13 Local Government Councils of Nasarawa State.

The decision was taken during the recent Nasarawa State Economic Council meeting presided over by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe.
During his bi-monthly interaction with the press, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Public Affairs, Mr. Peter Ahemba disclosed this information saying that the result of the exercise will help the various Local Government Councils in planning for their citizens. The interaction held on Friday (January 17, 2025) at the NUJ Press Center along Makurdi Road in Lafia.
According to Mr. Peter Ahemba, the State economic council which also consists of the Executive Chairmen of the 13 Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State, expressed concern about the large number of staff in each of the Local Government Areas hence the need to ensure only genuine workers remain on their payroll. This he said, will mean prudent use of their resources for important developmental projects.
Mr. Ahemba then revealed that a 5-man committee has been set up by the State economic council for the purpose of the screening.
In a related development, Mr. Peter Ahemba also informed the press that the Nasarawa State Economic Council also encouraged the Local Government Chairmen to replicate the food security strategies employed by the State Government.
Recall that the government of Engr. Abdullahi Sule had cultivated about 10,000 hectares of land at Jangwa in Awe Local Government Area.
The State Government had also procured and distributed tractors as well as rice seeds to all the Local Government Areas of the State.
The media aide to the Governor also touched on other issues such as the expected reconstitution of the State Executive Council, assuring the journalists and the general public that the Governor is working tirelessly for the good of the State.
