Nasarawa State Deputy Governor Rewards Nasarawa United With ₦2.5M For NPFL Qualification

The Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, has congratulated Nasarawa United football club for their qualification to the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) and personally rewarded them with a donation of ₦2.5 million.

This gesture is to serve as a morale booster for the team as they prepare for the Sallah Celebration and the upcoming NPFL season.

Speaking at his office, Dr. Akabe announced the donation, breaking it down as follows: ₦1.5 million for the players, ₦500,000 for the technical crew, ₦300,000 for the management, and ₦200,000 for the supporters. He also hinted at a larger package from the Governor upon his return, saying, “By the time the Governor returns, there will be a better host.”

Nasarawa United’s qualification to the NPFL came after a thrilling performance in the NNL Super8 tournament. Although they lost to Beyond Limit 4-3 on penalties after playing 2-2 in regulation time in the final, they had already secured their spot in the top tier by winning all their matches in the group stage.

The team’s achievement is a significant milestone for Nasarawa State, marking their return to the NPFL after a brief absence. The state government’s support and recognition of their efforts demonstrate the importance of football in the state and the nation at large.
