Nasarawa NUJ Congratulates Gov Sule, Others Over Victory At Recent Polls

The Nasarawa State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has congratulated the Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule over his victory at the recently concluded polls in the State.

The congratulatory message which is contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the monthly congress meeting of the council which held on Thursday March 30, 2023 also felicitated with the 24 members-elect of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly. The union called on the elected officials to be responsible with the mandate the electorate have entrusted in their care.

The congress specially congratulated one of her members, Hudu A. Hudu who won the election to represent Awe North Constituency in the State House of Assembly.

Still on the recently concluded general elections, the Nasarawa State NUJ frowned at some ugly incidents that almost marred the polls including inciting religious and ethnic statements made by some individuals as well as the attack on a journalist, Edwin Philip of Breeze FM Lafia by officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Crops (NSCDC) during the governorship elections in the State.

The union demanded that appropriate action be taken against perpetrators of such acts to serve as deterrent to others to forestall future occurrences and also demanded for compensation to the victim, Edwin Philip.

The council also felicitated with the government and people of Nasarawa State over the discovery of crude oil in Obi Local Government Area of the State and called on the government to harness its potentials to add value to the lives of the people of the State.
