Nasarawa Humanitarian Ministry To Improve Partnership With State House Of Assembly For Better Service Delivery
The Nasarawa State Ministry of Special Duties on Humanitarian Services and NGOs has said it will improve existing collaborations and partnership with the Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA) towards serving the people of the State better.

The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Special Duties on Humanitarian Services and NGOs, Princess Margaret Elayo said this when she appeared before the NSHA standing committee on Women Affairs for the appraisal of the Ministry’s budget performance in Lafia on Monday (November 25, 2024).
Princess Margaret Elayo who appeared alongside other management staff of her ministry, explained that her Ministry has been able to conclude ninety three percent of its services to people of the State. She listed the distribution of palliatives to the vulnerable, fertilisers to farmers and relief materials to victims of flood and fire disasters as some of the services rendered.

Princess Margaret Elayo also spoke extensively on their breakthroughs, challenges and areas that needed the intervention of the House which includes speedy release of funds and re-location of school feeding program and activities of the vulnerable from women affairs ministry to humanitarian ministry. According to her, this is the practice at the national level.
Responding, Chairman House Committee on Women Affairs, Hajiya Hajara Danyaro, charged the Ministry to scale up its activities towards complementing efforts of the State Government by providing succour to the citizenry.
She acknowledged the numerous challenges and issues raised by the ministry and said such would have been addressed before now if the information were made available to the committee.
She enjoined the ministry to do more in budget implementation especially in next year’s budget and get more NGOs to carry out activities in the State.
Hajiya Hajara said the house will continue to support MDA’s across the State to avail people of the State best dividends of democracy.
Some members of the House Committee including Hon. Aliyu Yusuf Chundaya, Hon. Dr. Peter Akwe, Hon. Mohammed Adamu Omadefu and Hon. Musa Saidu, implored government MDAs to achieve the policy drive of the current administration in the State.
