Governor of Nasarawa State Abdullahi Sule has sacked the Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, Alhaji Aliyu Tijani Ahmed.
This was contained in a press release signed by the Permanent Secretary Government House Administration.
According to the press release, “His Excellency the Governor of Nasarawa State Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule has approved the relieve of the appointment of Alhaji Aliyu Tijani Ahmed as the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State with effect from today Monday, the 8th of June, 2020.
“Accordingly, he is required to hand over all Government property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary Cabinet Affairs and Special Services in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the State immediately.”
Alhaji Aliyu Tijani Ahmed has been walking on shaky grounds ever since the Nasarawa State House of Assembly set up an ad-hoc committee to investigate how N1 billion released in 2018 for the renovation/fencing of secondary schools in the State was spent.
Aliyu Tijani Ahmed was the Commissioner of Education at the time and the project was done under his supervision.
The House Committee led by Honourable Daniel Ogazi completed its investigation and had submitted its report on Monday June 1, 2020 and as a result, the House passed a resolution asking Governor Abdullahi Sule to sack the SSG.
It is however still unclear whether the sack of Alhaji Aliyu Tijani Ahmed by the Governor is a direct consequence of the House’s investigation and resolution.
