Nasarawa Government Commends Journalists For Maintaining Professional Ethics
The Nasarawa State Government has commended journalists practicing in the State for maintaining high professional ethics in carrying out their responsibilities.
The commendation came during the annual end-of-year Journalists get-together organized by the Nasarawa State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) which held at the NUJ press center, Makurdi road on Thursday (December 14, 2023).
Speaking of behalf of the government, Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor, Peter Ahemba said the government of Engr. Abdullahi Sule has enjoyed working with the journalist especially under the leadership of Comrade Salihu Alkali.
While assuring the journalists of a peaceful and conducive environment, Peter Ahemba urged them not to hesitate to constructively criticize the government for the betterment of the State.
Also speaking at the event, a former Deputy Director of Radio Nigeria, Musa Abdullahi reminded the journalists of the dignity of their profession while urging them never to allow sentiments influence their reportage.
Another speaker at the event, a veteran journalist and founder of Eggonnews, Mr. Matthew Kuju, congratulated the journalists in Nasarawa State for making it to the end of 2023.
He commended the NUJ Chairman for the initiative to gather journalists at the end of every year to unwind and celebrate and prayed to see the end of 2024 in sound health.
Earlier in his remarks, the Nasarawa State NUJ Chairman appreciated all the journalists in the State for always giving him maximum support and assured them of his unflinching commitment to the protection of their interests.
The event was marked with a lot of dancing and merriment as the journalists showed off their dancing skills.
