Nasarawa Deputy Speaker Loses Seat As INEC Presents Certificate Of Return To Larry Bawa

The current Deputy Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nehemiah Tsentse Dandaura has lost his seat in the next Assembly as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) issued certificate of return to Larry Ven Bawa to represent Akwanga North following Supreme court ruling authenticating his candidature of All Progressives Congress APC.

According to the electoral umpire, the certificate earlier issued to the Deputy Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nehemiah Tsentse Dandaura stands invalid.

Recall that on the March 29, 2023, the Independent National Electoral Commission issued certificate of return to the Deputy Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nehemiah Tsentse Dandaura as winner of Akwanga North Constituency at the just concluded polls and shortly thereafter, the Supreme Court ruled that Hon. Larry Ven Bawa was actually the authentic candidate of the APC in the just concluded elections.

Consequently, the electoral umpire, represented by the Head of Election and Political Party Monitoring, Shamsudeen Oyeyemi and in obedience to the court ruling, issued certificate of return to Larry Ven Bawa as the Member-elect for Akwanga North State Constituency.

Hon. Larry Van Bawa speaking after receiving the certificate of return, said the Supreme Court has vindicated him and promised to engage the faction of the Deputy Speaker to work for the interest of the party.

Also, the Nasarawa State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. John Mamma  said the Supreme Court ruling has put to an end pre- election crises that engulfed Akwanga North Constituency and called on all concerned to move on in the interest of the party and the State at large.
