Nasarawa Deputy Gov. Attack: Miyetti Allah Ready To Partner Government, Security To Expose Criminal Elements
The leadership of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria in Nasarawa State has said that the association is ready to partner the State, Local Governments and security agencies in their efforts to expose criminal elements in the state.
Accordingly, the leadership of the association has said that measures will be taken, including the setting up of a security committee in all the Local Government Areas in the State to check the activities of criminal elements in the state.
The Chairman of the association in the State, Mohammed Hussaini stated this Wednesday (4th September) in a meeting at the instance of the Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Council, Honourable Samuel Meshi in Akwanga.
Hussaini who distanced the association from the claim that its members are responsible for most of the crime and criminality in the State, called on Ardos and other leaders of the association at the local levels not to harbour strangers whose identity are not known.
According to him, “it is unfortunate that the convoy of the State Deputy Governor, Emmanuel Akabe was attacked with the knowledge of some people within us.
“There are criminal elements amongst us, who migrated from Zamfara, Niger, Katsina and other places and are destroying our good records in the State.”
He said, “Forthwith, we will not condone any acts of criminality by any one of us”, even as he called on his members, Ardos and traditional rulers of various ethnic groups in the State to desist from habouring people whose origin is alien.
“It is our collective responsibilities to investigate and expose any strangers whose activity is not clear to us, because they are the same people who turn around to be threats to our lives and lands.
“We must ask them to leave our land or get them exposed to any relevant security authority to avoid our names and image being tarnished.”
Hussaini who alleged that 350 cows were rustled with the knowledge of a traditional ruler in the State, prayed God to expose those orchestrating acts of criminality in the State.
He warned his kinsmen and members in habit of destroying farm crops, terrorising people and robbing them of their belongings to also desist for peace and economic development.
The Chairman of Akwanga Local Government, Honourable Samuel Meshi who was represented by his Deputy, Honourable Safiyanu Isa said, the meeting was about peace and tranquillity in the domain.
“We have been having security challenges in and around our environment, and that is why we called the meeting of all the Fulani leaders and their members to fish out the bad ones among them.
“We had serious and fruitful discussion with them and we hope to have some normalcy in our Communities”, he explained.
The Deputy Chairman of Akwanga LGA also revealed that, following the recent attack on the convoy of the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, some arrests have been made so far.
