Nasarawa Assembly Happy With Budget Performance Of State Health Ministry, Other Parastatals

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Health has commended the State Hospitals Management Board and Ministry of Health for being up and doing in improving on the health status of the people of the State.

The committee said it is happy with their budget performance so far just as it appreciated Gov. Abdullahi Sule for prioritizing the health sector in the State.

Hon Larry Ven-Bawa, the Chairman of the Committee and Chief Whip of the House gave the commendation when the management of the board and the Ministry appeared before the committee on their 2024 budget performance.

He said: “A week ago, the Rt. Hon Speaker directed the entire House standing committees to go on oversight functions. I want to appreciate you for well coordinated reports. You people are doing well and I urge you to sustain the tempo.

“I also want to appreciate Gov Abdullahi Sule for releasing funds for improved health status of the people of the State.

“This feat you have achieved will not be possible without his support and the release Gov. Sule  made to you” he said.

Ven-Bawa urged them to live above board while discharging their duties.

The chairman of the committee assured them of the committee’s continuous support to succeed.

Besides, Ven-Bawa disclosed that the committee would embark on assessment tour of health facilities across the State come June, 2024.

Earlier, Dr. Edego Egba, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) Nasarawa State Hospitals Management Board appreciated the committee and the State Government for supporting the activities of the board to succeed.

“There is a lot of transformation in the health sector, this is as a result of your support and efforts of His Excellency, Gov. Abdullahi Sule.

“On our part, we will continue to do our best in ensuring quality healthcare service delivery”  Egba said.

On his part, Dr John Ali Damina, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health  assured of the Ministry’s continuous readiness to take the health sector to the greater height in the State.

Damina thanked the committee for the support the ministry is enjoying from it and called for its sustenance.

The Permanent Secretary also appreciated Gov Abdullahi Sule for prioritizing the health sector.
