Nasarawa Amazons’ Chairperson, Hajiya Nagogo, Commends Governor Sule’s Commitment to Women’s Football
As the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr.A.A Sule host the state female football team in the government house Lafia, Hajiya Hussaina Suleiman Nagogo, Chairperson of Nasarawa Amazons took advantage and expressed her heartfelt appreciation to Governor for his unwavering support to the club. She assured the Governor that the team would reciprocate his kindness by delivering outstanding results.
The Nasarawa Amazons had a remarkable run in the Pre-season Tournament, winning all their games against formidable opponents. Their impressive performance ultimately led them to the final match against Bayelsa Queens, the 2023/24 Nigeria Women’s Premier League title winners.
Hajiya Nagogo proudly highlighted the team’s achievements beyond their Pre-season Tournament victory. Notably, Akerekoromwei Janet won the golden boot award for scoring seven goals, while Unachukwu Udoka received the golden glove award.
The Chairperson also shared the exciting news that several players, including Josephine Matthias, Sikiratu Isah, Yina Adoo, Unachukwu Udoka, and Akerekoromwei Janet, were featured in the Super Falcons’ international friendly games against Algeria and France. She noted that the team’s players constitute the majority of the home-based players in the national team.
Furthermore, Hajiya Nagogo announced that some Nasarawa Amazons players had been invited to join Nigeria’s U-20 and U-17 teams. Additionally, the team’s Technical Adviser, Christopher Danjuma, who also leads Nigeria’s U-20 Women’s team, the Falconets, was shortlisted for the CAF Coach of the Year award.
Hajiya Nagogo concluded by requesting the Government’s support in addressing the team’s pressing needs. She emphasized the importance of continued backing to ensure the team’s sustained success and growth.
