Magajin Gari Nassarawa Eggon Felicitates With Muslims At Eid-el-Kabir, Calls For Continuous Prayers And Peaceful Co-existence
The Magajin Gari Nassarawa Eggon, Mallam Isiyaku Abdullahi has felicitated with all Muslim faithful on the celebration of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir while calling on all believers in Nigeria to continually pray for the country and engage in acts that will promote peaceful coexistence amongst citizens.
He said this in his Salah message while speaking with the press at his palace in Nassarawa Eggon where he marked the festivities among many well-wishers.
Mallam Isiyaku Abdullahi said the past year has been especially tough on Nigerians as they had to battle with the COVID-19 pandemic and its attendant challenges including economic recession.
He said: “This is a very important day for us as Muslims and humans. And as believers, it is a joyous day that we are able to witness today. We were able to survive the COVID pandemic which we are very grateful to Allah SWT. We had challenges arising from this pandemic. We lost some. May their souls rest in perfect peace.
“To that extent, we believe this is a day of reflection; a day reminiscent in our scriptures the Holy Qur’an about the sacrifices made.
“And to that extent, we are witnessing similar different sacrifices of insecurity, challenges of high prices of food stuff, challenges coming from economic recession. So our people have tried and survived all these challenges. So, what we have now is the glorification and thanking of God that he was able to allow us survive and we continue to survive until we get back to our normal businesses.”
Mallam Isiyaku Abdullahi called on all citizens of Nassarawa Eggon, Nasarawa and Nigeria at large, to in line with the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and share the little they have with their neighbours. According to him, such acts apart from attracting blessings from God, will engender peaceful coexistence in the community.
He prayed to God for bumper harvest this season to reward the diligent labour of farmers and also ease the hardship being caused by the high prices of foodstuff and other commodities in the market.
He also urged citizens to always be security conscious and endeavour to volunteer information about suspicious activities in their surroundings to the relevant authorities as security was the business of every individual.
The Magajin Gari Nassarawa Eggon particularly commended the people of Nassarawa Eggon for being a true community. He said he has observed the spirit of togetherness among the people of Nassarawa Eggon as they celebrate together during festivities and also mourn with each other in times of sadness.
He urged them to continue with that spirit as it is only in an atmosphere of peace and unity that meaningful development can be made.
He said: “We call on our people to work as a community to ensure that people go to school, people make associations so that they can support themselves and support government because the government cannot do everything alone.”
After performing the ceremony of slaughtering of the ram as a symbol of sacrifice, the Magajin Gari Nassarawa Eggon in his usual benevolence, distributed food items including rice and noodles to well-wishers that were at his palace to celebrate with him. He had earlier participated in the Eid prayers at the Nassarawa Eggon Eid prayer ground alongside thousands of other Muslim faithful.
He also spared time to receive different groups of people who were in his palace to commiserate with him over the demise of his in-law.
In all, the palace of the Magajin Gari Nassarawa Eggon was bustling with activities as various groups were seen dancing. There was also eating and drinking all in celebration of Salah.
