LG Councillors In Nasarawa State Visit Gov Sule, Speaker NSHA
Yesterday (Tuesday November 26, 2019), elected Councillors from the 13 Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State paid courtesy calls on the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engineer Abdulahi Sule and the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abduahi.
While the visit to the Governor was at the Government House, the Speaker was at the State House of Assembly complex, both along Shendam road, Lafia.
The Governor and the Speaker addressed them on some topical issues concerning their responsibilities and the State.
Governor Sule To Councillors
“There was no way we will make political appointment without proper consultation with the party.
“I’m happy, just by coincidence, the Chairman and Secretary of the party are here. There is no political appointment that we made without consultation with the party.

“Following the rule of law and ensuring that anything that is meant for you, comes to you, what is meant to me comes to me, for some of us, that’s our lifestyles, that’s our way of life.
“Are we going to be sitting in this office and all we will be worrying about is paying salaries? It does not make sense. We cannot be a state that is making money and you struggle to make money only to pay salaries and then go back to fold your hands.
“I’m challenging you to start looking for ways to raise revenue to do other things than paying salaries, ”

We will call erring LG chairmen to order in Nasarawa- Speaker
The Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi says on Tuesday that the House would not hesitate to call any Local Government chairman who abuses its power while discharging his duties in the interest of development.

The speaker urged the executive and legislative arms to tolerate one another no matter their grievances for development to thrive in their respective councils.
He told the forum that the House has approved three years tenure for elected local government officials in the interest of development at the grassroots.
“I want to commend you for the visit and to assure of our resolve to make local government system work effectively in the state.
“I urge you all to live above board and imbibe the spirit of tolerance with your people in the interest of peace.
“You must ensure cordial working relationship with your executives, give them the needed cooperation for development to thrive.
“You must make sacrifices for the development of your local government areas as we have approved three years tenure for the local government elected officials.
“But we will not hesitate to call any local government chairman that take advantage of the three years tenure to abuse the power of his office,” he said.
The number three citizen restated the continued determination of the House to pass resolutions and enact laws that have direct bearing on the lives of the people at the grassroots.
Earlier, Hon Ahmed Uba Arikya, the chairman of the forum said that the visit was to congratulate the House for granting financial autonomy to the local government areas in the state.
Uba Arikya, who is the Speaker, Lafia Local Government legislative council said that the visit was also to appreciate the assembly for approving three years tenure for local government elected officials in the State.
“We are also here to talk to you so that you will intervene to talk to the local government chairmen to carry us along in the scheme of things in the interest of peace and development,” he said.
