In an electrifying finale, Lafia LGA emerged champions of the Nasarawa Governor’s Cup, defeating Nasarawa LGA 4-1. The match, played in the presence of Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, and Nigeria Football Federation President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, lived up to its billing.
Lafia Dominates from Start
Mahmud Mohammed opened the scoring just 56 seconds into the game, capitalizing on Usman Usman’s pass. Hassan Wambai doubled Lafia’s lead with a stunning free-kick two minutes later. Nasarawa LGA pulled one back through Ochoche Ngbede’s penalty kick in first-half stoppage time.
Second-Half Onslaught
Lafia continued their dominance in the second half, with Usman Usman scoring their third goal in the 54th minute. Substitute Baffa Umar sealed the victory with a calm finish in the dying moments.
