Justina Kotso Takes Over As Nasarawa State Polytechnic Rector
Dr Justina Anjide Kotso has taken over as substantive Rector of the Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic, Lafia, Nasarawa State.
In a ceremony which took place today (September 17, 2020) at the council chambers of the institution and was witnessed by key members of the management and staff of the institution, she took over from Dr Ruth Jerico who was Acting Rector.

In her speech at the ceremony, the outgoing Rector appreciated the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State and visitor of the institution, Engineer Abdullahi Sule for giving her the opportunity to serve in that capacity.
She also thanked members of the management and other staff of the polytechnic for the support they gave to her that helped her make the achievements she was able to make.
She listed some of the achievements to include training of staff, equipping of the institution’s ICT center amongst others.
Dr Ruth Jerico concluded by asking anyone she might have offended in the course of discharging her responsibilities for forgiveness and urged staff of the polytechnic to give even more support to the incoming Rector for the growth of the institution.
In her own remarks, the incoming Rector, Dr Justina Kotso appreciated the entire polytechnic community for their cooperation which she has continued to enjoy as according to her, it is the polytechnic that has made her who she is today.

In her words: “The polytechnic has made me who I am today. I went out on secondment leave of absence and I succeeded there because I believe that I was a good daughter that went and became a good wife. And all that, I didn’t achieve alone. I had people here that were probing me from the background.”
The new Rector said she will avoid saying too much because she is just coming in and “words are cheap”.
She begged to be given time to study and understand fully the current state of affairs in the institution.

Dr Mrs Kotso promised to always act in the best interest of the institution, while seeking for support from all the relevant stakeholders.
There were goodwill messages from the academic board and management of the polytechnic as well as the joint union of staff of the institution.
They all appreciated the outgoing Rector Dr Mrs Ruth Jerico for her contributions to the growth of the institution within the seven months she acted as Rector and prayed that God will guide her even as she enters the next phase of her career.
They also congratulated the new Rector and promised to support her as she leads the institution to greater heights.
There was also a goodwill message from the Nigerian Library Association represented by Mr Nurudeen Muazu Maifata the Vice Chairman of the association in Nasarawa State.
He described Dr Mrs Justina Anjide Kotso who is their chairperson in Nasarawa State as the “best of us”. He lamented that she will no longer be able to give her undivided attention to the library association because of her new role but wished her the best.
Dr Justina Anjide Kotso comes in as the first ever substantive female Rector of the Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic Lafia.
