How Kidnappers Whisked Away Nasarawa Information Commissioner, Lawal – Sources
Yakubu Lawal, the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism has been kidnapped by unknown gun men at his residence in Nassarawa Eggon.
He was kidnapped on Monday, August 15, 2022 at about 9:45pm.
Lawal who was in the car alone driving, was about driving into his compound, just by the gate of his house, when the gunmen reportedly appeared from nowhere and whisked him away.
They succeeded in disconnecting his house from electricity to enable them operate in the darkness for fear of being seen while carrying out their operation, while other neighbouring houses still had light.
Before the gunmen could take away the Commissioner, they were shooting in the air sporadically to scare people from to the coming to the scene.
A family source who confirmed the incident to Eggonnews said the criminals came in their car heavily armed in their number, leaving the Commissioner’s car behind after the operation.
According to our source, there was no trace at the scene of the incident of who the kidnappers are.
The Commissioner was said to have left office, few minutes after 6pm and asked his driver and aide not to bother going with him since it was getting late.
Meanwhile, effort to reach the Nasarawa Police Public Relation Officer was not successful as at the time of filing this report.
However, Chairman of Nassarawa Eggon Local Government while also confirming the incident to our reporter, assured residents of the area of safety and promised that the government is already doing everything possible to catch up with the criminals and return the Honourable Commissioner to the comfort of his loved ones.
This ugly incident is coming barely few days after yet to be identified gunmen attacked Government Science School Nassarawa Eggon, killing one of the staff, Auta Nesla while another, Timothy Malle was left unconscious in a nearby community, Azuba, a suburb of Lafia.
