A group known as Kigbu For Engr. A.A Sule Vanguard has called on Honourable Dr Joseph Haruna Kigbu to declare for the Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing the press today in Lafia on Wednesday (May 4, 2022), the group said they arrived at the decision “after careful observation of the unfolding political events in the State especially in the Southern Senatorial Zone” and decided to support their call by contributing ten million naira (N10,000,000.00) to cover the cost of purchasing the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.
They said the call became necessary considering the track records of Dr. Kigbu while he represented Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency between 2011 and 2015 which include sponsorship of bills and execution of projects that had and are still having positive impact on the lives of his constituents.
According to them, although Dr Kigbu has been out of office for almost eight years, his impact is still being felt especially by the less privileged through medical outreaches that he has organized which has earned him the nickname Doktan Talakawa.
Speaking on behalf of Obi Local Government Area, Hon. Dominic John said that the return of Dr. Kigbu to the ruling All Progressives Congress has made the party even stronger and he has shown his love for Nasarawa State with his continuous support for Engr Abdullahi Sule’s return to the Government House come 2023.
He said that things can only get better for the people of Nasarawa State especially those in Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency with Governor Abdullahi Sule getting the chance to consolidate on the achievements of his first tenure and with Hon. Dr. Joseph Kigbu representing the people of Lafia/Obi at the Federal House of Representatives.
On his part, Alhaji Ali Garkuwa, a grassroots politician from Lafia who spoke in Hausa, said it is the love and confidence the people have in Dr. Kigbu that led to them sacrificing from their meagre resources to raise the ten million naira which has been donated to him.
He appealed to the delegates of the APC in Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency to give the ticket to Dr. Kigbu for the good of the constituency and the State at large.
Earlier on, the group led by Hon. Musa Magaji Arikya, the Special Adviser to the Nasarawa State Governor on Financial Services, were at the Nasarawa State APC Secretariat to present their letter calling on Hon. Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu to contest for the seat to represent Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives.
