‘Governor Sule Should Not Play Politics With The Aren Eggon Stool’

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule has been urged not to play politics with the selection of the successor to the late Aren Eggon, Dr. Bala Angbazo.

Speaking during the flag-off of the campaigns of the main opposition party in Nasarawa State, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday (October 12, 2022) in Lafia, Nasarawa State PDP Chairman, Hon. Francis Orogu wondered why months after the death and burial of the late paramount ruler of the Eggon people, the revered stool is yet to be filled.

Citing the examples of the Emir of Keffi and that of Awe, Hon. Francis Orogu said the stool of the Aren is just as historic and formidable as the other First Class stools in the State and as such should be treated with the dignity it deserves.

He said: “I want to say it clearly here that the Eggon nation should not be divided because they believe an Eggon son is contesting this election. I am saying this because it is high time somebody tells His Excellency, just like the Emir of Keffi when he died – may his soul rest in peace – it took only two weeks to conduct new election and placing that throne on the move.

“When the Emir of Awe died, it took just less than two weeks to replace the Emir of Awe. There is no reason why today, after our father the Aren Eggon – may his soul rest in peace – died and was buried after one month but up to this moment there is no hope for the Eggon nation to have a traditional ruler.

“I am saying this because this is politics. Let the man not use his weaknesses to frustrate the traditional stool and promise everybody in Nassarawa Eggon that he is going to be the traditional ruler.”

He called on the incumbent Governor and his party not to engage in any form of politics that will cause division among the people of the State all in a bid to win the forthcoming elections by all means..
