Governor Sule Set To Spend N1.3bn On Second Phase Of Dualization Of Shendam Road
Nasarawa State Governor, Engr Abdullahi Sule is set to commence the second phase of the dualization of Shendam Road in Lafia the Nasarawa State capital at the cost of about N1.3bn.
The project was contained in the breakdown of the Nasarawa State 2024 budget presented by the State’s Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Planning, Haj Munira Abdullahi, today (Friday January 12, 2024) in Lafia.
The budget breakdown reveals that the Nasarawa State Government plans to spend One Billion, Three Hundred and Fifty Million Naira (₦1,350,000,000) only on the second phase of the Shendam Road project.
Recall that the first phase from Total Junction to the State House of Assembly Complex commenced in December 2021 and was completed in the later months of 2023.
Other roads the State Government plan to construct according to the budget breakdown include: 65km Kwandere – Keffi Road, 16km Kadarko – Kwara Road, 14km Nasarawa – Ara Road as well as rural feeder roads in Obi, Keana, Doma and Akwanga Local Government Areas of the State amongst others.
The budget breakdown also disclosed that the State Government is planning to spend 500 million naira to supply electricity equipment and install CCTV in Lafia and its environments.
On the whole, the size of the budget is ₦199,879,370,709.43 with ₦113,123,055,069.60 of that figure going into recurrent expenditure while ₦86,756,315,639.83 will go to capital expenditure.
In sectoral allocation, Education took the highest with ₦40.16 billion while Health follows with ₦26.71 billion.
The Finance Commissioner completed her presentation by assuring the citizens of Nasarawa State that her Ministry will closely monitor and track the implementation of all the projects for the benefit of the people.
