Governor Sule Felicitates With Nasarawa Muslim Faithful At Ramadan
Governor Abdullahi A. Sule of Nasarawa State has felicitated with Muslim faithful in the State as they celebrate the end of the 2020 holy month of Ramadan and Eid-El-Fitir.
This was contained in the Governor’s message to citizens of Nasarawa State as they mark the end of the 2020 month of Ramadan and Eid-El-Fitir celebrations.
He described fasting in the holy month of Ramadan as one of the five pillars of Islam which is aimed at strengthening our faith through spiritual engagements such as abstinence from eating, drinking and satisfying other desires from sunset to dawn.
In the special salah message, Governor Abdullahi Sule called on the Muslim ummah to continue to abide by the teachings contained in the Holy Quran especially the acts of kindness, charity and humility, among other moral virtues that they have practiced during the holy month.
The Governor also used the opportunity to empathize with the Muslim Ummah for the restrictions imposed on Tafsir, congregational prayers and other certain religious rites associated with the holy month of Ramadan.
He said: “It is pertinent to state that this was not in any way intended to deprive our Muslim brothers and sisters for communing with Almighty Allah Subhanahu Wata’Ala during this sacred month of Ramadan.
“However, the protection of lives of our people during this pandemic is paramount, hence the temporary restriction which has now being relaxed for the period of two (2) weeks in the first instance.”
He then implored Nasarawa citizens to be guided by the guidelines issued by the WHO and NCDC, especially the maintenance of social distancing, wearing of face mask, regular hand sanitizing, among other preventive measures as part of preventive measures to control and contain the spread of Coronavirus for the wellbeing of the society.
Governor Sule also called on motorists and other road users to obey traffic rules while also calling on the Federal Road Safety Commission and other security agencies to continue to be vigilant during this festive period and also intensify efforts in controlling traffic to safeguard lives and property of the citizens.
