Governor Abdullahi A. Sule Affirms Support To Girl-Child Education During An Unexpected Visit To GGSS Garaku

Governor Abdullahi A Sule made an unexpected visit to Government Girls’ Secondary School Garaku on Thursday 10th October 2019 where he inspected the hostels, classrooms and overall living conditions of the school.

The Governor who was shown around the school premises by the Principal, Hajiya Madinatu Abubakar Othman was deeply moved by the plight of the students evident in worn out leaking roofs and dilapidated condition of the hostels for girls.

In his comments, the Governor particularly noted that it is unacceptable for young girls who are being groomed to become well cultured ladies, to reside in the hostel, but then are forced to trek long distances away from the hostel building in order to find convenience or restrooms outside.

Engineer Sule then gave opportunity to the School Deputy Head girl, Faith Daniel Akwe who passionately appealed on behalf of other students for government’s kind intervention to fix their roofs, enrich variety of food to the kitchen menu and increase the ration of food being served in the dining hall.

The Governor immediately summoned the local government Chairman of Kokona, Saidu Kuriki to commence the roof work while government carefully studies how to best institute a mechanism by which all secondary schools in Nasarawa State will be maintained, secured and standardized to meet with minimum standards of hygiene, safety, basic comfort and security.
