Fuel Subsidy Removal: Nasarawa NLC Mobilises For Nationwide Strike
The Nasarawa State chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is mobilising its members ahead of the proposed Wednesday June 7 nationwide strike over the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.
Comr. Ayuba Oko, Chairman of NLC in the State made the disclosure on Sunday in Lafia at an emergency meeting of the State Executive Council (SEC).
The NLC Chairman informed the meeting that the National Executive Council of the union had resolved to begin a nationwide strike on Wednesday, should the Federal Government refuses to reverse its decision and give room for proper negotiations.
He added that the national headquarters had directed that workers in both public and private sectors should withdraw thier services by Wednesday, June 7, except otherwise informed.
The Nasarawa State NLC Chairman directed all affiliates of the union in the State to mobilise their members preparatory to the strike.
He also said that members should remain calm and await further directive from the national leadership through the state leadership of the union.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that leaders of the various affiliates had pledged their commitment to comply with the directive of the National Headquarters of the union.
