Flood: Senator Al-Makura Donates Relief Materials To Affected Communities

Senator representing Nasarawa South at the National Assembly, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has donated relief materials worth millions of naira to the victims of recent flood disaster in four communities of Nasarawa State.

A statement from his press secretary indicates that items distributed include 109 bags each of sugar and rice, 109 cartons each of macaroni, spaghetti, seasoning cubes and noodles as well as cartons of vegetable oil.

The four communities affected by the flood includes, Old Awe town, Tunga, Jangwa and Rukubi in Awe and Doma Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State.

In the meantime, Senator Al-makura, through his Senior Legislative Assistant (SLA) Mohammed Atose, has also flagged off the distribution of 130 motorcycles across his constituency with a symbolic presentation.

The relief materials and motorcycles which was in collaboration with Border Community Development Agency (BCDA), were distributed simultaneously across the affected communities on Tuesday (October 4, 2022).

Senator Al-Makura, during the distribution said the rationale behind the distribution of relief materials and motorcycles, was to cushion the effect of the flood and bring succour to the victims.

In Awe LG, the relief materials were delivered to the Emir of Awe, Alhaji Isa Abubakar Umar and Sarkin Tunga,  Alhaji Bala Ibrahim Galadima, on behalf of the victims, through Al-Makura’s legislative aides, Nasir Abdullahi Awe and Yakubu Abubakar, who commiserated with the victims.

In Rukubi Doma LGA, the relief materials were delivered on behalf the Senator by another of his aide, Adamu Alhassan, who described the flood disaster as unfortunate.

Senator Al-Makura, observed that the level of devastation caused by the flood was enormous, as such he said there was need to come to the aid of the victims to alleviate their sufferings.

Speaking earlier, representative of Border Community Development Agency, Tanko Abdullahi, said, the items were to assist the victims of the recent flood in the State.

He enjoined those in charge of  the materials to ensure equity distribution of the items by ensuring that they get to the affected victims.

Receiving the items on behalf of the victims in Awe and Tunga, the Emir of Awe, Alhaji Isa Abubakar Umar and Sarkin Tunga, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim Galadima, appreciated Senator Al-makura, for his kind gesture.

The paramount rulers, called on public spirited individuals and corporate organisations to to emulate the Senator and come to the aid of the flood victims.
