FG Set To Take-Over Lafia Airport, Four Other State Airports Across Nigeria
The Federal Government of Nigeria is set to take over operations of the cargo airport in Kwandere, Lafia, Nasarawa State.
This was disclosed when the Inspection Team from the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development paid a visit to the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi in Kebbi State.
The Team leader and Ministry’s Director of Finance, Sanusi Gwandu while speaking during the inspection tour of the airport in Birnin Kebbi, said the Kebbi State Airport was one of the five airports to be handed over to the Federal Government after the team’s recommendation.
“The Kebbi State International Airport is among the five airports approved by the Executive Council of the Federation for handover and refund by the Ministry. The others are those in Bayelsa, Bauchi, Gombe and Nasarawa States.”
Recall that the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari had in July 2022, approved the takeover of the Lafia Cargo Airport and consequent refund of N9.5 billion to the Nasarawa State Government.
