In a thrilling encounter of Matchday 2 of the Nigeria National League (NNL), played at the Kwara Township Stadium in Ilorin, Kwara State, Lafia-based FC Basira lost to Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC (ABS FC) 2-0.

The game, which was decided on Saturday afternoon, saw both teams creating goalscoring opportunities in the early stages but unable to break through. However, the host team ABS FC struck the back of the net two minutes after the restart when Tajudeeen Hamzat slotted home from close range to put the Saraki’s boys ahead.

Thirteen minutes later, captain of the side Jamiu Sa’ad doubled the lead with a clinical strike when he got to the end of a beautiful assist from Boluwatife Ajina.

After the game, the Technical Adviser of FC Basira, Aminu Musa, expressed serious dismay at his players’ inability to utilize the chances they created in the game, which ultimately caused the team an unfortunate result.

FC Basira, with the result, have now dropped to the third position behind Doma United and ABS FC, who have six points each. The team will return to Lafia and regroup to host Sokoto United on MatchDay 3 at the Lafia City Stadium on November 29, 2025.
