The Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage (Rtd) has today (Friday August 5, 2022) commissioned a mosque in Akaleku built by President of Eggon Youth Movement and Chairman Akyenyi Kigbu Memorial Foundation, Comrade Isaac Kigbu (JP).
The mosque which is located at Akaleku, Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, was christened Rt. Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara Central Mosque Akaleku and built from bottom to top solely by Chief Isaac Kigbu.
In his remarks, the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage, commended Chief Isaac Kigbu for the gesture as according to him, such has never been seen or heard of before in Nasarawa State.
He said such acts go a long way in making their work as traditional rulers much easier because it promotes peaceful co-existence among the people irrespective of their religious differences.
In the words of the Emir of Lafia: “As chairman of inter-religious affairs in Nasarawa State, this has promoted my work. This has made my work easy to show to all of us in Nasarawa State – Muslims or Christians – that we are one people. We will co-exist and hold on to our respective faiths while respecting each other’s religion. We must show love, we must show concern to one another. That will help us to promote this peaceful co-existence that is going on between us. We are the most peaceful State you can find around where you hardly hear of religious conflict between the Christians and the Muslims. So we would continue to promote peaceful co-existence among us.
“We want to say may the Lord bless this young man for doing this work. We hope that others will use this as an example to promote the cause of either of the religion. If you are a Christian, you can build a mosque just as what this young man has done.”
Also speaking, Comrade Isaac Kigbu who built the mosque, said the act is borne out of his desire to bring development and succour to his community.
He called on other members of the society who have the means, to make efforts towards putting smiles on the faces of the needy. This according to him, will be a service to God and will attract manifold blessings for the giver.
