ECDA Pledges Support For Nassarawa Eggon LG Chairman For Development

The Eggon Cultural and Development Association (ECDA), led by its President, Mr. Mandy David Abuluya, on Wednesday (March 5, 2025) paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Council, Hon. Barr. Iliya Ibn Aliyu.

The visit was aimed at congratulating the Chairman on his recent electoral victory and pledging support for his administration’s development agenda.
The delegation, which included key ECDA officials such as Hon. Haruna Mohammed Arugbadu (Vice President), Chris Allu (General Secretary), Mr. John Barnabas Anvah (Assistant General Secretary), Comr. Haruna Adugidzi (Financial Secretary), Mr. Edro Akwanga (Auditor General), Comr. Barnabas D. Maga (Social and Culture Secretary), and Umar Abdullahi Galle (Public Relations Officer), was received at the Chairman’s office.
During the visit, Mr. Abuluya described Barr. Aliyu’s victory as a “popular mandate” that reflects the aspirations of the people of Nassarawa Eggon.
He urged the Chairman to remain focused and resilient in the face of distractions to achieve meaningful development for the locality.
“Your victory at the polls is a clear testament to the trust and confidence the people have in your leadership,” Mr. Abuluya stated.
“We urge you to remain steadfast in your commitment to delivering good governance and development to our people.”
The ECDA President also commended the quality and standard of the Chairman’s office, describing it as a manifestation of the change the people of Nassarawa Eggon local government have long desired.
He expressed confidence in Barr. Aliyu’s intellectual and administrative capabilities, noting that his experience and exposure position him to lead the council to greater heights.
Appeal for Educational Development
Mr. Abuluya highlighted the plight of the Eggon Community Secondary School, which according to him is in dire need of infrastructure and learning facilities.
He appealed to the Chairman to prioritize the school’s needs, emphasizing the importance of education in shaping the future of the community.
In a symbolic gesture, the ECDA leadership presented a roll-up banner to the Chairman, unveiling him as the elected Executive Chairman of Nassarawa Eggon Local Government.
The banner featured a congratulatory message, celebrating his victory and expressing the association’s support for his administration.
Chairman Aliyu Responds, Calls for Unity
In his response, Hon. Barr. Iliya Ibn Aliyu expressed gratitude to the ECDA for the visit, describing it as “timely, monumental, and historical.”
He applauded the association for its role in leading the Eggon nation but challenged its leadership to revive the lost values of unity, togetherness, love, and tolerance that once defined the Eggon people.
“ECDA has always been the mouthpiece of the Eggon nation on social, political, and economic matters,” Barr. Aliyu said.
“However, these objectives have been far from achieved in recent times. I urge you to lead in creating a platform for discussion among our people, free from biases, as a non-partisan association.”
The Chairman also urged the ECDA to support the present administration of His Excellency, Engr. A. A. Sule, the Governor of Nasarawa State.
He emphasized that such support would enable the Eggon people to benefit more from the dividends of the state government’s policies and programs.
“The success of our Local Government is tied to the success of the State Government. I urge the ECDA to rally behind Governor A. A. Sule’s administration so that the Eggon nation can fully benefit from the developmental projects and initiatives of the state,” Barr. Aliyu added.
Commitment to Education and Collaboration
The Chairman also addressed the ECDA’s request concerning the Eggon Community Secondary School, reaffirming his commitment to education as a top priority of his administration.
As an alumnus of the school, Barr. Aliyu pledged to provide 100 desks to the institution as the council’s income improves. He also promised to collaborate with stakeholders and the ECDA to ensure inclusive governance and improved democratic dividends for the people of Nassarawa Eggon local government area.
