ECDA Inaugurates Standing and Ad Hoc Committees, Setting Developmental Agenda for Eggon Nation

The Eggon Cultural and Development Association (ECDA) has inaugurated four standing committees and one ad hoc committee. 

The event which took place on Saturday (October 5, 2024) at the Eggon Community Secondary School, Nassarawa Eggon marks a significant step in the association’s commitment to fostering community growth and addressing critical issues affecting the Eggon Nation.

The ECDA President, Mandy David Abuluya who presided over the ceremony, delivered an inspiring statement that underscored the importance of the committees in advancing the association’s goals.

“The inauguration of these committees is not merely procedural; it is a promise to our people. Each committee has been given a specific mandate, and we expect diligent work that reflects our shared commitment to the progress of the Eggon Nation. I have complete confidence in the leadership of each chairman and their teams to deliver on their terms of reference.”

In their acceptance speeches, each committee chairperson made the following remarks:

Education Committee
Prof. Alizaga Salihu Ahmad, leading the Education Committee, emphasised the importance of advancing educational opportunities. “Our goal is to improve access to quality education and ensure that our youth are well-equipped to face the challenges of tomorrow. We will explore partnerships and initiatives to support our schools, students, and educators in achieving educational excellence.”

Project and Works Committee
Surveyor Yusuf Away, Chairman of the Project and Works Committee, was represented by the Committee Secretary,
Engr. Adigizi Simon Ibi, FNSE, who delivered a remark on his behalf. He emphasised the committee’s focus on infrastructure development and project oversight. “Our mandate is to oversee and implement development projects that will improve the quality of life for our people. We are dedicated to ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and transparently to meet community needs,” Engineer Ibi stated.

Peace and Security Committee
Justice James Ada, Chairman of the Peace and Security Committee, represented by Mohammed Gyabo Suleiman, pledged his commitment to enhancing safety within the community. “Our primary mandate is to address security concerns and work closely with local authorities to ensure a peaceful environment. We will prioritise community engagement and proactive measures to prevent conflicts and safeguard our community.”

Finance and Endowment Committee
Usman Audu Ejah, Chairman of the Finance and Endowment Committee, outlined his committee’s mission to strengthen the financial sustainability of the ECDA. “We have been tasked with securing and managing funds supporting ECDA’s projects and initiatives. We will work on diversifying our funding sources and establishing a robust endowment for long-term community development.”

Ad Hoc Committee for the Purchase of the ECDA Vehicle
Prof. UD Mohammed, appointed to lead the Ad Hoc Committee for the Purchase of the ECDA Vehicle, spoke to enhancing operational capabilities. “An official vehicle will improve our mobility and visibility within the community and beyond. Our committee will ensure a transparent and efficient procurement process that aligns with ECDA’s strategic needs.”

The committee members vowed to uphold the principles and vision of the ECDA.

Also, the committee’s chairpersons and members expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and committed to working closely with stakeholders to deliver impactful results.

The inauguration concluded with President Abuluya urging committee members to begin their work immediately and reminding them of the community’s expectations. “We have high hopes and look forward to seeing these committees transform ideas into actions that benefit every Eggon citizen. Our journey toward progress continues, and together, we will achieve our goals.”

The event was well-attended by community leaders, the ECDA National Executive Council, members of the ECDA National Representatives Council, and representatives from various Eggon communities, all united by a shared vision of a stronger, more prosperous Eggon Nation.
